The club was founded in 1991 by a group of five mothers as a way of connecting with each other. It became known as the Mothers Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park. As the population grew, so did the club. In 2002, the club was renamed into the Parents Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park (PAMP) and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission to build communities for families with young children by hosting events and forums, and providing resources in the Palo Alto, Menlo Park and surrounding areas. PAMP was governed by a volunteer Board of Directors charged with strategic planning and a Leadership team led by the club’s President in charge of day-to-day operations.
By 2008, the club had grown so large that part-time staff positions were added to support the club’s operational efficiency. Today, PAMP is a vibrant community of families across the peninsula with an active online Facebook community and a wide range of events throughout the year to keep families with young children connected, informed, and entertained.
